Green Tea & Matcha Tea Soap Log

Green & Matcha Tea Soap Log

This batch of CP Soap is scented with dual tea Fragrances, our new Matcha Tea and our Green Tea Fragrance, and suits our Wooden Log Mould comfortably.

We divided the batch into even halves to make the log as shown in our picture for this fresh turquoise/green log. We sliced the log with our Flat Blade Cutter and Wooden Cutter Guide .

We have used Brites for CP Lime and Deep Blue Liquid Dispersion, for the top layer colour. Deep Sea Green Liquid Dispersion for the bottom layer, and Cappucino Mica dusted between the layers for the hazy brown stripe which reminds me of powdered tea leaves. Neither fragrance accelerates trace, (and no discolouring) so you’ll have plenty of time to arrange your layers.

This recipe makes a silky soap and has a gentle lather and includes Macadamia Oil for its satiny feel, instead of a butter.

For how to make soap from Scratch, please see our Cold Process Soapmaking Instructions Page

  • Prepare log mould by lining and securing the base (with elastic bands) and place on the bench where you will pour the soap and insulate
  • Bring the soap to light trace and then divide the batch into two containers - weigh out two portions of approximately 900g each
  • Colour the base layer to a medium shade of Deep Sea Green, mix in the Green Tea Fragrance, and when at medium trace, carefully pour into the log mould – tap on bench to level it off - HOLD THE MOULD BASE ON while you do this!
  • Now check that the base layer has started to set up a little (it will be a little firmer)
  • Using a small sample spoon, sprinkle a thin layer of Cappucino Mica over the base layer, ensuring it is really finely sprinkled
  • Now colour the second half of the soap – I achieved that rich turquoise with a good measure of Brites for CP Yellow and a splash of Deep Blue Dispersion.
  • Then add the Matcha Tea Fragrance and mix well
  • When at medium trace, carefully pour over the back of a spoon on top of the Cappucino layer. You can also spoon this over – it should be quite thick
  • If you wish to have peaks like I did, take a mini balloon whisk, and when the soap is nice and thick and beginning to really set up, it’s time to texture the top. Carefully push the balloon whisk into the soap approximately 1 cm, and as you remove it the pattern it leaves will be the same as mine.

  • Leave the soap for 10 to 20 minutes, and then sprinkle the surface with Rainbow Glitter, and then spritz liberally with Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Insulate as normal

TIPS:

  • Don't try and move the mould once poured!
  • Pour the second layer from a very LOW height. A medium trace works best and try pouring over the back of a spoon, or spooning it carefully over the first layer to avoid breaking through the dark line.

Matcha & Green Tea Log

Sliced, you can see the slight tide-line - it was a freezing cold day and I didn't give it quite enough insulation, though I expect this to fade with some curing time.
