The aroma of Frankincense is fresh, slightly coniferous/resinous, and has a slight peppery balsamic base. It has a slight sweetness that is both warm and deep and when combined with other oils it is a powerful bridge (like Lavender) that helps to bring the blend together.
The word frankincense has its roots in 10th century French text meaning "luxuriant incense" Frankincense is used in religious practise as it is said to calm the mind and spirit. It is said to be useful for meditation (often blended with myrrh and sandalwood), concentration, to slow the mind
