This butter-balm is delicate on skin and is so simple to make! We've included a beeswax version, as well as a vegan soy wax version.
The Soy Wax version is much softer than the Beeswax version as the beeswax thickens the butter considerably. Adjust the wax and firmness to suit your requirements.
Neither formula requires a preservative as they contain no water, but the Rosemary Oleoresin Extract is a natural antioxidant that will lengthen the life of the oils.
To add some lightness, when the mixture is nearly cool, it is whisked with a hand held or electric balloon whisk (not a stick blender) to smooth and cream the butter.

- If making in summer, pop the containers into the freezer for 10 minutes to help firm the butter quickly
Method for Soy Wax:
- Place Soy Wax and liquid oils into a Pyrex jug and heat in microwave a couple of minutes until completely liquid - caution as this can get very hot
- Add Rosemary Oleoresin Extract and Shea Butter and stir until it has all melted
- Stir until mixture is starting to reach liquid honey thickness, and then whisk with an electric mixer until the texture is light and creamy
- Pour into containers
- If making in summer, pop the containers into the freezer for 10 minutes to help firm the butter quickly
Customise: If you want to play with the softness and texture, you can substitue Liquid Shea Oil instead of the regular Shea Butter.
Important: Soy Wax CB-135 was the only soy wax which had been dermatologically tested. As we do not stock this any longer we recommend checking that your soy wax has been tested for skin care by the manufacturer.
