Products you need to make this recipe

Do you have one or more of these ingredients already? No Problem! Choose only what you need and the total price will adjust accordingly.

Short on time? This tutorial is a quick and easy, yet effective solution to last minute gifts! Some glitz is supplied by a drizzle of fine Gold and Silver Glitter across the top of the happy green soaps.

You could also use a Lime, Distilled Essential Oil or Coconut and Lime Fragrance, in fact any of our fresh and summery fragrances work superbly - just don't forget to check vanilla content (you don't want any vanilly in this quick recipe!)

This project is a great one if you are a beginner and have never made Melt & Pour Soap before, or if you need a quick fix at the last minute when you are soooo out of time and energy!

I used our Silicone 12 Bar Rectangle Mould, so the measurements are for that mould. If you want squares, rather than a loaf choose this Silicone 12 Bar Square Mould or of course the Round or Oval Moulds if you prefer!

The amount of soap base required will vary if you only three quarters fill the cavities, or use a different mould.

To make 12 soaps in the rectangle mould, you'll need:

Stirring spoon or spatulas
2 Disposable Pipettes and small cups for the drizzle
A large microwave safe jug, or if you only have a 1 litre one, make two smaller batches, if you make a lot of 1 or more kilo batches of Melt & Pour Soap a Crock Pot with a lid is really useful to have all the soap melted and ready to go.
Scales to ensure you melt enough soap! A Thermometer is useful, but not essential

  • Set out the ingredients, equipment and mould, ready to go
  • Dice approximately 1600g of soap base into small ice cube sized chunks, place in the microwave jug
  • As it is a fairly large quantity of soap, cover the jug during melting to avoid water evaporation (You can also use a crock pot on low if you want to get on with other things and let the soap melt slowly over a few hours)
  • Melt on low or medium low in the microwave, checking the soap occasionally and stirring to help the chunks melt evenly. This will take about 5 - 10 minutes, so do keep an eye on it so it doesn't overheat or the soap will sweat later on
  • Remove from heat when nearly all the pieces have melted and the temperature will be around 50 - 55°C

  • Once removed from the microwave (or crock pot), add colour and fragrance. I used about 30 drops Lime Green Brites for MP, I dripped it in until I was happy with the depth of colour and about 5 drops of Deep Seagreen Liquid Dispersion to take the edge of that "bit too bright" tone!
  • Add 5ml of Fragrance or Essential Oil per 500g of soap (so if you have melted 1600g, add 16ml, if you like a strong scent use 20ml) and stir well to combine
  • Pour into the mould
  • Spritz with alcohol to remove any residual bubbles
  • Allow to set up completely, which will take a few hours
  • Unmould the soaps and prepare the bling!

  • In a small cup, place one cube (approximately 10g) of clear soap and give it a SHORT time in the microwave - take care it boils very quickly. Try 10 - 30 seconds on medium-low!
  • Snip the tip off the pipette
  • Add ¼ of teaspoon of Silver fine Gitter to the soap and stir
  • Spritz the top of the soaps with alcohol to ensure the drizzled soap sticks
  • Squeeze up a good amount of liquid glitter soap into the pipette, and working smoothly and quickly, decorate the tops of the soap. Allow the soap flow to go over the edges and onto the paper underneath as you will achieve a nicer finish if you can work freely with a flowing motion
  • Now repeat for the Gold Mica or Glitter
  • You are done!  Wrap, label and gift!
