Nipaguard® SCE is a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent designed for the preservation of a wide range of cosmetics applications. One of its main raw materials, called Sorbitol, is produced from the sugar of wheat and corn, while the other, Caprylic Acid, is derived from coconut or palm oil. (INCI: Sorbitan Caprylate). Challenge and efficacy testing show superior results to parabens for rinse-off formulations at low pH, and comparable results to parabens for leave-on formulations. In addition, high efficacy for leave-on formulations at pH 6.5.
SCE is comprised of Velsan® SC (INCI: Sorbitan Caprylate), 1.3-Propanediol and Benzoic Acid. Velsan® SC is a highly effective synergistic booster developed to improve the performance of preservatives in cosmetics. This is a completely novel approach in the cosmetic industry and has been filed for patent worldwide. This product exhibits microbial activity against a wide range of bacteria, yeast and moulds. Nipaguard® SCE is Ecocert certified, which makes it ideal for preservation of cosmetic products with “natural” claims.
Reduces overall load of preservatives in formulations even at high use concentrations of blend due to very low level of preservative (15% Benzoic Acid)

Appearance: Liquid
pH range: 4.0 - 6.5 (trials have shown stability up to 8.00)
Solubility: in water is below 0.05 g/l (20°C) and is readily miscible with many organic solvents, surfactants and emulsifiers
Add: during cool down phase at around 40°C
Recommended Usage Rate: 0.5 - 1.5 % (EU Max is 3.3 %)
