Are you looking for a liquid soap recipe that 'goes the extra mile'? This gently exfoliating liquid soap will help tackle tough grease and extra dirty hands, whilst also soothing and nourishing your skin.
This formulation will be thicker than your average liquid soap due to the clay and exfoliating granules, so it's best used in a pump bottle. This recipe is not suitable for foamy pump bottles.
Prefer to make a thicker, scoopable scrub soap? Increase the amount of clay and scrub granules, and pop it into a scrub pot or jar!
Note: the ingredients in the shopping basket will make at least two batches of this scrubby soap.
Ingredients
230g Liquid Castile Soap
5g/ml Organic Calendula Extract
2 Tablespoons Golden Spa Minerals (Organic Zeolite) or French Kaolin Clay
3 Tablespoons Walnut Shell Scrub Granules
2 Teaspoons Distilled Water
0.75g - 1g Liquid Germall Plus
Up to 1.5 teaspoon or 6 ml or Essential Oil/s of choice or Fragrance Oil
Essential Oil suggestions:
1 part Lavender Essential Oil, 1 part Valencia Orange Essential Oil
or
1 part Rose Geranium Essential Oil, 1 Part English Rose Fragrance
Method
- Combine the clay and distilled water in a medium jug or bowl and mix into a slurry – this eliminates dry pockets in the liquid soap
- Now add half the Castile Soap and mix well to combine – you need to eliminate lumps
- Next add the rest of the Castile Soap and stir
- Mix the Liquid Germall Plus preservative in now
- Add the Ground Walnut Shells and stir to combine
- Now add the Calendula Extract and Fragrance or Essential Oils and stir, ensuring they are well combined
- Pour into the bottle!
To use: Wet your hands, then pump or pour a little soap mixture into the palm of your hand and rub vigorously to remove dirt and grime, then rinse and moisturise!
