This soap loaf is a different take on our Blissful Blues Ombré Melt & Pour Soap Recipe. Calm your senses with this relaxing, aqua blue swirled Melt and Pour Soap. This is so simple; it is the same soap base and colour used in our Blissful Blues Ombré Loaf - but much faster to make - instead of layering evenly, it is swirled right in the mould.

The entire 1kg soap base is used, so no wasting soap.

What You Need:

Equipment:

* Long Spout Pouring Jug and Silicone Soap Spatulas available to purchase from our website, or you can use your own from your kitchen!

Prep:

  • Set out ingredients and equipment.
  • Dice the soap base into 1 – 2 cm cubes

Method:

Pour One:

  • Divide the soap base into three portions of approximately the same weight - eyeballing it is fine.  Lightly cover the first batch in the jug and heat in the microwave – heat in bursts of 30 seconds to 1 minute until melted.
  • Check the temperature to avoid overheating – the base doesn’t need to be heated above 70°C.
  • Remove from the microwave and add approximately  teaspoon Blue Lagoon Mica to colour to a very pale shade of aqua when stirred through.
  • Add 5g/ml of the fragrance to this jug and stir well to combine.
  • Spritz with Isopropyl Alcohol if any surface bubbles appear.
  • Pour the soap into the mould very slowly, keeping the jug close to the base of the mould.
  • Spritz with Isopropyl Alcohol to remove any surface bubbles.
  • DO NOT allow this to set up - start on the next colour immediately.

Pour Two:

  • Repeat the above process using approximately ¼ teaspoon Blue Lagoon Mica to colour to a slightly darker shade of aqua when stirred through.
  • Add another 5g/ml fragrance oil.
  • If a light skin has formed on the soap surface, break this with your spatula, so the pour will move all through the unset base layer.
  • Carefully pour over the soap moving your hand around the soap mould.
  • Spritz with Isopropyl Alcohol to remove any surface bubbles.
  • DO NOT allow this to set up - start on the next colour immediately.

Pour Three:

  • Repeat the above process using approximately ½ teaspoon Blue Lagoon Mica to colour to a slightly darker again shade of aqua when stirred through.
  • Add another 5g/ml fragrance oil.
  • If a light skin has formed on the soap surface, break this with your spatula, so the pour will move all through the unset soap.
  • Carefully pour over the soap moving your hand around the soap mould.
  • Spritz with Isopropyl Alcohol to remove any surface bubbles.
  • Now you are finished pouring allow to set up completely.  Allow an hour or two or even overnight to fully harden.

Unmoulding:

  • Unmould by pulling the sides of the silicone mould outwards to release the air lock, invert and slide your thumbs along the base of the silicone mould and the soap loaf will slowly slide out onto the bench.

Now slice to desired thickness and wrap!
