This lovely light, whipped Kokum Butter is easy to make and nourishes and protects your skin. It contains added Dri Silc to enhance the skin feel on application. Nourishing Infused Carrot Oil gives the whipped butter a delicious colour too! Try to avoid making whipped butter on a hot summer’s day, and store in a cool, dark place.

NOTE: Summer and heat are the enemy of whipped butters! Try to avoid making whipped butter on a hot summer’s day, and store in a cool, dark place. Above all, don’t leave in the car or on the beach!

Ingredients:

Equipment:

  • 1 Pyrex jug or mixing bowl - 500ml - 750ml size – not too wide, narrow is better!
  • Small electric balloon whisk - not a stick blender as you need to whip air into the mixture
  • Spoon, spatulas etc
  • Digital scales
  • Thermometer
  • 1 dropper or Pipette
  • Large bowl and ice cubes for ice bath

Method:

Break up the Kokum Butter into small pieces and place a in a medium sized microwave safe jug or
bowl (I like a jug as I can stabilise it when whipping). Warm in microwave on medium in one-minute
bursts until the butter is nearly all melted.

...

Remove from microwave and stir to melt the remaining pieces of butter. Now add in the Almond Oil,
Infused Carrot Oil and the Dri Silc. Whip a little to ensure the powder is dissolved in the mixture.
Prepare an ice bath in a large bowl suitable to fit the jug into during cooldown and whipping.

...

Now place the bowl in the ice bath to achieve a fast cool down (This is why it’s important to use a
Pyrex or heat safe jug– glass may shatter). You can use a freezer, but don’t forget to stir it now
and then or it will set up around the edges of the jug.

...

Approximately 30 minutes in the ice bath should be about right depending on the ambient
temperature. The consistency should be ‘just firm’ when you touch with your fingertip.
If it is too hard it won’t whip well, and if it is too hot it won’t whip well!
I like to test it for ‘whippability’ at around 20°C.

...

Add the Fragrance Oil and stir to combine. Using the electric balloon whisk, beat the
mixture for several minutesuntil it is light and fluffy. The colour turns creamy,
away from the oily translucence.

...

Test for scent, you can use more if required. Avoid whipping air into the mixture by ensuring
that the beaters are under the surface of the mixture when beating. If you beat too much
air or larger bubbles into the cooling mixture it may collapse later.
Spoon into the jars and lid.
