There is nothing like sinking into a warm, scented bath at the end of a long day.  A soak in a warm bath helps soothe away the day’s emotional stresses and eases tired and aching muscles.

So many choices of goodies to use with salts!  Bubbles, oils, fizzies & bombs, Herbal Tub Teas, and of course Fragrance and Essential Oils!  Salts are a great choice for baths because they are mineral rich, and help promote good health and beautiful skin.

For centuries, people have bathed in the ocean, and of course warm, aromatic baths - think of Cleopatra, and the Romans!

Bathing in salt water can help to stimulate the circulation, hydrate the skin and increase its moisture retention, detox the skin and helps to soothe irritated or skin.  With the addition of Essential Oils, you can add additional therapeutic benefits.

Using herbs and flowers in salts look lovely in the package, but remember that you may end up with “bits” stuck on you or the bath after your have bathed.  So include them by all means, they look gorgeous, but less is more!  The key to keeping mixtures dry when there is more than just salt in the mix, is Natrasorb Bath - it enables the scent to be added "dry".

This page has several recipes, beginning with a basic recipe, and moves on to more luxurious and moisturising recipes.  Unlike Cold Processed Soap and Moisturiser recipes, these are in volume measurements for quick and easy manufacture, and you can simply multiply them to make bigger batches.

If you don't have a bath, don't discount the ahhhhhhhhh factor of a warm or cool foot bath at the end of the day.

How to use:

For all recipes, run the bath, and add 1/4 – ½ cup of salts per bath, swish water to dissolve, and step in!

Safety:  If the Bath Salt recipe contains oils or butters, take great care when stepping in and out of the bath – it may be a little slippery.

Suggestions for Packaging include:

Stand Up Pouches, which come in two sizes
Wide Neck Tubs and Jars or our Bail Jars.

Basic Bath Salts Recipe

This is Bath Salts at their most basic, mineral rich and fragrant!

Method:

  • Combine salts in a mixing bowl or pyrex jug
  • Drip in the Essential Oil or Fragrance and stir well to coat the salt granules
  • Line a tray with paper and spread out the salts to dry
  • Package in an airtight container, stand up pouches or jars

Simple Bath Salts

The inclusion of Natrasorb Bath helps soften the water, and keeps the salt mixture nice and dry.

Method:

  • Place the Natrasorb into a mixing bowl and add the Essential Oil or Fragrant Oils mixing until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs
  • If using Colour, add the Salt/s in a separate bowl and stir to combine and coat salt in colour
  • Now combine the Fragrance Mixture with the Salts and mix to combine well
  • Package in an airtight container, stand up pouches or jar

Just Lavender Bath Salts

Method:

  • Combine salts in a mixing bowl or pyrex jug
  • Place the Natrasorb into a mixing bowl and add the Essential Oil or Fragrant Oils mixing until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs
  • If using Colour, add the Salt/s in a separate bowl and stir to combine and coat salt in colour
  • Now combine the Lavender Mixture with the Salts and mix to combine well
  • Package in an airtight container, stand up pouches or jars

 Your Choice Bath Salts

The next recipe is easy to vary – it is, as usual, stored dry - try our Wide Neck Tubs and Jars or our Bail Jars, or package in our Stand Up Pouches.  None of these ingredients will leave “bits” on your skin, or on the sides of the Bath Tub.

Now choose your variation:

Method:

  • Place the Natrasorb into a mixing bowl and add the Essential Oil or Fragrance mixing until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs
  • Combine with the salts in the mixing bowl or pyrex jug
  • If using colour, add in a separate bowl (or Ziplock Bag) and stir to combine and coat salt in colour
  • Then add the fragranced Natrasorb fragrance mixture with the salts and mix to combine well
  • Stir in the clay, milk etc
  • Package in an airtight container, stand up pouches or jars
