Products you need to make this recipe

Do you have one or more of these ingredients already? No Problem! Choose only what you need and the total price will adjust accordingly.

As the world turns toward plastic-free & sustainable products, there has never been a better time to try this Solid Shampoo Bar with Argan Oil recipe! Ditch the plastic bottle and lather up!

This formula is a little different to our Shampoo Bar Kit in moisture and ingredients, but the tutorial and process is exactly the same.  This formula is fairly soft so it is easy to use with a silicone mould, but NOT suitable for using with Moon Cake presses as it will stick badly! It pours like heavily traced Cold Process Soap.  So if you would like to press your bars, our Shampoo Bar Kit is the way to go!

This is a semi cold process recipe – you are only heating the ingredients to enable them to be mixed together, so no high heating is required.

Colour:  We used ONE pigment scoop of Neon Pigment Cactus Green in this batch, resulting in a gorgeous pale sage green colour. You can also use Liquid Neons in your formulation if you like a touch of colour.

Ingredients:

Phase A

Phase B

Phase C

Phase D

Equipment:
Large Microwave safe jug – Pyrex is good
Small Microwave safe jug
Small glass beaker or glass
Dust Mask is preferable

WE RECOMMEND READING THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS THROUGH COMPLETELY BEFORE BEGINNING TO MAKE YOUR SHAMPOO BARS

Instructions:

Step One:  Prepare work surface and lay out equipment and separate the of the ingredients into their phases, each group in a separate glass or pyrex vessel.
Carefully place the Phase A ingredients into the larger microwave safe jug – POUR INGREDIENTS SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY TO AVOID CREATING ANY IRRITATING DUST.  Once moistened this is not an issue.
Add Phase B ingredients to the small jug.
Add Phase C Ingredients into a small beaker or glass jug and stir until homogenous.  It may form a creamy liquid - clarity will depend on time of year. Set this aside.

Step Two:  Now warm in the large jug in the microwave for 30 - 60 seconds or so.  After warming the mixture in the jug, mix with a spoon working into a stiff paste.  You need to ensure the ingredients are of an even consistency irrespective of the weather.  If the ingredients do not stir easily, gently warm another 10 or 20 seconds.

This picture shows the Neon Pigment Cactus Green as per the colour reference above - this is just one Pigment Scoop of colourant.
Also the rice grain shaped wax is actually old stock of BTMS 25, so if your pastilles are round, they are fine!

Step Three:  Warm the smaller jug in the microwave until liquid – take care not to overheat. Once the the Cocoa Butter and Conditioning Emulsifier are liquid remove.

Step Four:  Add the liquid Phase B ingredients to the Phase A ingredients in the larger jug and mix through well.

The mixture will become paste-like and the colour start to show pastel instead of 'neon' green.

Spoon the mixture into the mould cavities, pressing down quite firmly. Done!

Leave the bars to dry out for a week or two before attempting to unmould.
Now dry for a few weeks or so and then store or wrap for sale.
It is important to ensure they become nice and hard before use!
